Clean it, soak it with some penetrating oil and back it out - the stub, if any, can then be removed. Parts for the 31-15 are easy to get, and the missing thread guide is easy to replace. To me it looks like someone cut the opening in a domestic table larger to accommodate the bigger machine but if this is a really early model maybe that's what they did back then?Īlso, what needles and bobbins does this old beast take? Are they the same as a more modern 31? I don't know about this treadle doesn't have the drop leaves like the other industrial treadles I've seen (there is one drawer on the left, removed for transport). The upper thread guide is missing and I don't know how to replace it because it's different than the 31s I've seen before (the flat one with the holes in it). There is no model # on it and no badge, the serial # dates it to 1895 but doesn't give a model number. A 950 Kenmore, and a Singer 306 that completes my swing needle trilogy (none of which are working yet) and got what I think is a model 31 in a treadle table.

This was a good weekend.got several $5 machines.
